Meet the Founder, Derrick
Derrick Aryee was born and raised in Ghana, Kaneshie - Accra. Growing up he wanted to be a footballer, it had been his greatest dream just because he was good at that and the community he grew up in loved him, although unfortunately he was denied by his father.
Skating was new to him and he developed the interest of learning how to skate. The vision was to learn so that he could skate across the community, while also adopting a new sport to help him let go of the pain and the hardship that he went through. He didn’t have any skates then so he had to borrow a friend's skate shoes that were twice his size, which wasn’t easy.
He began his skating journey during primary school, growing up in the vibrant city of Kaneshie. It all started when he stumbled upon an old K2 roller skate while exploring his neighborhood with a friend. With a mix of curiosity and excitement, he hopped on and tried to imitate the tricks he had seen on the street. Despite numerous falls and bruises, he was determined to master the art of skating.
He got to know that skating was a healthy sport that unites people together. He wanted to achieve a lot in soccer, he believes that he could channel that same energy with the help of a few friends to empower and create jobs opportunity for the youth in the community.
